Day 1 & 2 - Depart USA
Your journey begins as you board an
international flight bound for Vietnam.
Day 3 - Arrive at
Hanoi
Upon arrival, you are greeted by your English speaking tour guide and transferred to your
hotel. After settling into your hotel, you will visit the Old Quarter by cyclo (1 hour).
It is also called "36 streets" named after the crafts traditionally sold there.
Day 4 -
Hanoi/Halong Bay (B)
Half-day sightseeing in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Travel by vehicle to Halong Bay
along Highway 5.
Day 5 -
Halong Bay/Hanoi (B)
Enjoy the cruise on Halong Bay (4 hrs) on a local wooden boat. Sail among the emerald
waters and limestone cliffs, stopping at different islands to explore some of the many
caves in this area. Cruise past floating villages, and observe the rhythms of daily
life on the bay. Transfer by vehicle from Halong Bay back to Hanoi
Day 6 -
Hanoi/Danang/Hoi An (B)
Today you will fly from Hanoi to Danang, Vietnam's fourth largest city. Visit the Cham
Museum and the China Beach. Next you will visit Hoi An, a picturesque riverside town south
of Danang. Cycle or walk as you take in the sites: a small
Chinese style Quan Cong Temple, founded in 1653; the Phuoc Kien Pagoda built around
1690, dedicated to Goddess of the Sea and Protector of Sailors and Fishermen; the Japanese
Covered Bridge; Tran Family Chapel; Sa Huynh Museum; and the Phung Hung House, a
combination of Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese style architecture.
Day 7 -
Hoi An/Hue (B)
Travel to Hue as you drive along Highway 1, past Lang Co, a beautiful island-like stretch
of palm-shaded sand. Gaze out on an incredible mountainous stretch of highway with
spectacular views, called the Hai Van Pass. Then travel by boat to the Thien Mu Pagoda and
Tomb of Emperor Minh Mang.
Day 8 -
Hue (B)
Explore the Old Imperial City, located in the Citadel. It was built in the early 19th
century and was modeled after the Forbidden City in Beijing. Some of the other sites you
will see include: the Ngo Mon Gate, a principal entrance to the Imperial Enclosure; Thai
Hoa Palace, a spacious hall with an ornate roof of huge timbers supported by 80 carved and
lacquered columns; Halls Of The Mandarins; Nine Dynastic Urns; and the Forbidden Purple
City. Finish the tour at the Imperial Tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh, the Chau Chau
Village, and the Dong Ba Market.
Day 9 -
Hue/Saigon (B)
A morning flight to Saigon, the largest of Vietnams cities, with
street markets, sidewalk cafés and sleek new bars. You will visit Notre Dame Cathedral,
the Central Post Office, City Hall, the Opera House, Jade Emperor Pagoda, the
Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, Ben Thanh Market, Giac Lam Pagoda, Binh Tay
Market, Cholon's main marketplace, Thien Hau Pagoda.
Day 10 -
Saigon (B)
See the historical Cu Chi Tunnels, an important base during
the American War. Also visit Tay Ninh, this town serves as the headquarters of
Caodism, one of many Vietnam's religions.
Day 11 -
Saigon (B)
Travel by boat to My Tho on the Mekong and visit the Vinh Trang
Pagoda. Afterwards board a local boat to explore the islands of the Mekong, stopping
at a fruit orchard to enjoy fruit and tea while listening to local music. The trip also
includes a brief sampan ride through the tiny waterways that thread the island.
Day 12 - Saigon/USA (B)
Transfer to the airport for your home bound flight.
